We all know that times are tough and let’s face it…babies are expensive! Below are just a few ways to save your dough and not deprive you or your little one. If you have a tip you’d like to share, drop us an email. We’ll be posting fresh tips every month.
Buy secondhand special-occasion clothes.
Visit your local consignment shop, and pick up a princess dress or a tiny suit for a fraction of its retail cost. Chances are its previous owner wore it just once or twice.
Don't rush to buy a breastfeeding wardrobe.
Money spent on nursing tees and bras adds up quickly. Since you’ll be spending most of your baby’s first two weeks indoors anyway, wait at least that long to shop for these. That way you can make sure you’re committed to breastfeeding before making such a big investment.
Take the toiletries.
Most of the time you’re allowed to keep the goodies from your hospital stay-namely the baby-care items that are stored in the cabinet beneath your baby’s rolling bassinet…just make sure you ask permission. Take a look and you’ll probably find diapers, swaddling cloths, a nasal aspirator, and much more. Or, leave them behind and pay $30-$40 for them later.

Scary as it is, children’s products are always being recalled. Check here for the latest in what to watch out for.
Bugaboo Bee Strollers Recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Bugaboo Designs announced a voluntary recall of Bugaboo Bee Strollers. About 22,500 of these products were sold nationwide between August 2007-April 2009. The strollers are being recalled due to 121 reports of brake failure. No injuries have been reported. The strollers sold for approximately $530 and were made in Taiwan.
What should you do if this affects you?

My son Aidan is starting to crawl around, and even though we’ve done our best to baby-proof, I’m scared we’ve missed something! Aside from the basic cabinet and drawer locks and outlet protectors, what else should I be baby-proofing?
~Cecille in Granger
Dear Cecile,
Baby-proofing can be a stressful project, especially when you start thinking of all the possible things your baby could get in to. Here are a few you might’ve forgotten. I hope this helps!
It might seem like everything is a hazard to your baby, and many things are. The important thing is to be as vigilant as you can and to make sure that anyone who cares for your little one does the same. Good luck!

Name: Caden Christopher Risse
Submitted by: Michelle Waldrop (Grandmother)
Birthday: March 3, 2008
In a Nutshell: According to Michelle, "Caden is all boy! He loves to play & explore on his own. He isn’t a cuddler anymore and won’t sit still long enough to be held. He feeds himself and wants whatever you are eating even if he already ate! Last week he had his first trip to the emergency room after falling and hitting his head. The nurse announced to the doctor that she had “a hysterical mom & a baby with a bruise in the waiting room.” He was fine and the lump was gone the next day. I’m sure this is just the first of many trips to the ER for his mother!”
If you have an adorable baby (0-18 months-old), send us a photo! Simply email us your photo and we’ll feature a different baby each month right here in the “Cute Baby” section of the E-Newsletter.
