Be a Santa to a Senior
Dates: Friday, Dec. 4th 12:00-6:00 p.m.
Saturday, December 5th 9:00-2:00 p.m.
Where: All Martin's Super Markets
Join us at all Martin's locations for this special opportunity to make a difference in the life of a Senior. Martin’s Super Markets will host the Mishawaka and Elkhart offices of Home Instead Senior Care’s sixth annual “Be a Santa to a Senior” program. The program makes it possible for community volunteers to deliver Christmas presents to areas seniors who may not otherwise receive a gift this holiday season. Home Instead Senior Care is the world’s largest provider of non-medical home care and companionship for the elderly.
Holiday shoppers are encouraged to choose an ornament with the first name of a financially needy senior and his or her gift requests from a special tree, which will be located near the entrance at every Martin’s store. Shoppers can then buy the item or items listed and leave them, along with the ornament attached, at a staffed collection area after they check out. Volunteers will be available to assist with any questions shoppers might have. In St. Joseph and Stevensville, Michigan, gifts will benefit low-income seniors who participate in the foster grandparent and senior companion programs of The Region IV Area Agency on Aging serving Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties.
Last year’s program collected, wrapped and delivered over 5,400 gifts for over 2,000 local seniors. With the community’s help, volunteers hope to collect an even greater number of gifts this holiday season.
